Raxawa Tea Factory was built in 1934 by the Irish.
The first planter was Mr. G. J. Pickthall.
Raxawa Tea plantation is about 250 hectares of Tea & Spices, with a labour force of more than 500 workers.
Raxawa Tea Factory was the first factory in Sri Lanka to produce Green Tea by Japanese in 1972. All the machinery was brought from Japan and manufactured Green Tea.
Currently this factory is a modern state of the art Tea factory and one of the best in Sri Lanka, surrounded by Tea plantations , Knuckles Mountains Range and beautiful waterfalls.
Currently producing more than one million Kilograms of Black Tea per annum, for the last 5 consecutive years.
This factory is fully automated with all the latest machinery.
Average crop for a day is 18000-20000 kgs of Green leaf.
Producing orthodox leafty grades and Tea bag types of black teas.
