It all began a century ago, when Mr. Salih planted his first tea leaf and Mr. Najimudeen, following in his father’s footsteps, produced his first tea grade. Their vision for growth and deep passion for tea have been carried forward through generations, shaping a legacy rooted in excellence.
Today, this legacy is led by Mr. Naleem Najimudeen, a renowned tea taster, broker, auctioneer, and marketing consultant with over 30 years of experience across every stage of the tea industry. After completing his schooling at Trinity College, Kandy, he began his career in Colombo as a trainee tea taster at Eastern Brokers, where he rose to the position of Senior Manager over two decades. His expertise expanded further through his work as a manufacturing consultant at the Tea Research Institute in Talawakelle, his decade-long service on the Sri Lanka Tea Board panel, and his tenure as Director of the Raxawa Tea Factory.
With rare and comprehensive “leaf to cup” mastery spanning planting, manufacturing, tasting, grading, and blending, Mr. Naleem Najimudeen is one of Sri Lanka’s few pioneers with complete command of the process. In 2015, he launched PRIME TEA CEYLON Pvt Ltd alongside the Raxawa Tea Lounge, introducing value-added teas, herbs, and spices while creating a cultural hub that quickly became a top tourist destination in Colombo. As the brand gained global recognition, the business evolved into an export-focused enterprise, winning the trust of buyers worldwide through uncompromising quality and expertise.
Currently, PRIME TEA CEYLON Pvt Ltd offers flavoured teas, value-added teas, herbal teas, spices, and coconut-based products, managing over 20 private labels across international markets. Operating from its modern headquarters in the heart of Colombo, the company continues to uphold rigorous ISO and food safety standards, with all packaging overseen directly from the factory. Under Mr. Naleem Najimudeen’s leadership, Prime Tea Ceylon stand today as trusted, premium global brands, where a century-old heritage and a growing “leaf to cup” legacy continue to flourish.
